Circle of Life

Rooted in the tattoo traditions of Nattin women, Godhna art emerged from a history where ink replaced jewelry - telling stories through dots, not gold. Once practiced on skin by gypsy women among marginalized castes, this intricate, monochrome style was later embraced by the Paswan tribal community. In this piece, dot-based motifs form circular rhythms that reflect nature’s balance - life, growth, and transformation. Fish, a central symbol, represent fertility, prosperity, and abundance, anchoring the work in both tradition and meaning.
